Ocean Color Affects Hurricane Paths

Plankton tints the ocean more green than blue… More plankton makes for more greenish water. More plankton also absorbs and reflects more sunlight closer to the ocean’s surface. This makes the surface temperature of greenish water higher than the surface temperature of (low plankton) blue water.

Bottom line, according to this study, the amount of plankton in ocean water can actually affect the path of hurricanes.
