Redneck oil spill engineering

The main problem with oil spill clean up is that oil is slippery and hard to grab. Occam’s Razor meets shade tree mechanics in this interesting take on oil spill clean up from a NW Florida contractor CW Roberts. Just imagine all the stuff we got laying around that may stick to the oil and provide a handle:

  • Bagasse from sugar cane
  • Feathers from chicken farms
  • All that famous switchgrass
  • Wood chips, corn silk and sawdust
  • Shredded American Express statements from FlaGOP

And if the low-tech approach doesn’t work, we can turn to space-age NASA aerogel, conveniently manufactured in Tampa.
