Proposed “Politician Protection Act”

A Bill to Adjust Elected Official Salary & Benefits Based on Performance
Known as “The Politician Protection Act”

Section 1. WHEREAS, we the people of Florida have elected a governor, cabinet, 40 senators, 120 representatives and various city and county officials to maintain and increase the standard of living for all Floridians.

Section 2. WHEREAS, we the people of Florida demand the highest level of professionalism, efficiency, creativity, and objective performance from our elected leaders, as they have promised over and over again in endless speeches and campaign advertisements.

Section 3. WHEREAS, we the people of Florida demand our elected representatives be role models for our children, unblemished by moral, ethical or criminal infractions.

BE IT NOW RESOLVED that our elected class–from dog catcher to Governor–shall be held strictly accountable for constant, general, month-to-month improvement based on the following factors:

Section 4. THIS LEGISLATION provides for the establishment of a monthly politician “report card” whereby the people of Florida may see tangible, objective evidence of changes in the above factors. All elected politicians will receive positive and negative reinforcement based on their performance, as measured by the above.

Section 5. THIS LEGISLATION provides for reduction, suspension and “claw back” of any and all funds paid, or promised to be paid, to elected politicians in the event that Florida’s standard of living, as quantified in the above factors, declines.

Section 6. FURTHER in the event that Florida’s standard of living does not show continuous improvement, elected politicians may have their term of office immediately revoked.

Section 7. EVEN FURTHER! in the event that Florida’s standard of living does not show continuous improvement, elected politicians may lose their paycheck, state contracts, sweetheart deals, state pension, car and cell phone allowance, state paid health care, the shirt off their back and their first child. Same for your wife, brother, parents and all other relatives by law or blood. Law partner too.

Section 8. This bill shall become law upon adoption by the people.

Section 9. All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.
