Florida Bans Fishing!

Go type “Florida fishing ban” into Google news and this is what you’ll get:

Unfortunately, it is all wrong. Florida can no more ban fishing for, or catching, a certain species than it can ban you hoping to win the lottery. Every fisherman could just say “I’m fishing for marlin” when asked. Who’s to say I’m not?

The story was reported wrong across the State and the FWC had to come out with a clarification:

While the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) issued an executive order on Jan. 15 that temporarily extends closed harvest seasons for snook statewide and establishes temporary statewide closed harvest seasons for bonefish and tarpon, the FWC advises anglers that catch-and-release fishing for these important game fish species is still allowed.
