Columbus Day Regatta: Listen live on your computer

Go to this page, click on Channel 16: Listen Live and you are listening to VHF Channel 16 radio traffic from somewhere in Miami live over the internet. The madness is already starting, enjoy.

As of 8:54AM Saturday, I just heard the Coast Guard report a plane went down somewhere “mumble south mumble 25 degrees” and there is a 18-foot boat going down just outside Government Cut off Fisher Island with people in the water wearing life jackets… “Radio check” is the most popular broadcast by far. SeaTow is already busy. Plane crash update here from the Miami Herald.

Here is today’s Miami Herald preview of the Regatta antics. The headline reads With nudity and booze, Biscayne Bay boat patrols hope to prevent holiday tragedy. Makes it seem like the boat patrols are using nudity and booze to prevent tragedy. Anything is possible.
