Last weekend, Fish and Wildlife Conservation officers found a bass boat capsized in a canal off the south side of Alligator Alley, west of the mile marker 40 boat ramp in Broward County. Debris, including food and fishing gear, was found floating near the scene. The key was in the ignition and in the “on” position.
For several hours in the darkness, FWC and its law enforcement partners searched land and water for occupants without success. Officers also searched all the boat ramps along the Alley but did not locate a vehicle or trailer that could have transported the capsized boat.
Attempts to locate the boat’s current owner were unsuccessful; the boat’s registration expired 10 years ago.
